Taipei based artist Liu, Hsin-Cheng has always been fascinated by simple forms and
colour stirred by their visual complicity. He spent a year in Central Saint
Martin of Art & Design College in London to explore the relationship between
sound and graphic, intending to create a systematic visual communication
triggered by simply talking. As for his first exhibition in China, Liu, Hsin-Cheng
takes his sensibility into a journey with basic shapes. The way he deals
with dimension, form, proportion presents his understanding of global
graphic culture, which reveals a romantic side of the visual nature of
geometry.
While artist Jason Cool pays more attention on the metaphor within the
context of geometry. He often uses objects and materials exist in our
everyday life to create modular system-like installation. By looking into
basic concept of dimension, Jason exams the class of different shapes and
makes implications of social hierarchy of our life. It becomes more
meaningful when found object been introduced into his practice, as the
connection between commodity culture and economy class. Apparently he puts
effort on achieving the geometric order at mathematical level, but the
actual work is in the result of a kind of failed structure. It creates the
conflict of salability and riot and leaves the feeling of uncanny elegancy.
