在21世紀(jì)的這八年中，中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)正朝向國際化的方向大步邁進，也就是說被越來越多的國內(nèi)和國際觀眾與機構(gòu)所欣賞和接納。而所謂的中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)主要以油畫，攝影，雕塑，行為藝術(shù)，裝置，視頻和數(shù)碼等形式和材料為主，中國的傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)媒介和手法，例如水墨/書法/宣紙等，則往往被忽略。以傳統(tǒng)媒介做當(dāng)代藝術(shù)能被接受么? 相關(guān)的問題是，從事傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)媒介為手段的藝術(shù)家中有沒有進行當(dāng)代藝術(shù)探索的呢？當(dāng)然，答案是肯定的。《水?色》這個展覽介紹了十位多年從事水墨藝術(shù)從傳統(tǒng)形態(tài)向當(dāng)代形態(tài)轉(zhuǎn)化的研究與探索的藝術(shù)家。他們以各自的藝術(shù)成果，突破了前人關(guān)于水墨畫在技術(shù)與觀念上的藩籬，在繼承東方傳統(tǒng)審美精髓的基礎(chǔ)之上，正在發(fā)展出各自不同的當(dāng)代藝術(shù)圖景，豐富和充實了當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的多樣性與學(xué)術(shù)深度。這種擁有各自東方文化根性的當(dāng)代藝術(shù)探索為中國當(dāng)代視覺文化的發(fā)展提供了有成效的案例。也正在呈現(xiàn)出富有生機的當(dāng)代藝術(shù)景觀。
In recent years of this new century, contemporary Chinese art has been well-received in world art stage, namely, it has accessed to wider domestic and international audience and institutions. So called Contemporary Chinese Art is usually composed by oil painting, photograph, sculpture, performance, installation, video and digital work. Traditional Chinese art media and technique, such as ink, calligraphy, and rice-paper were more or less ignored. Can traditional media do contemporary art? A relevant question is whether there is any artist who use traditional method and media has done serious contemporary art exploration. Certainly, the answer is positive. This large group show entitled “Water/color” will showcase those artists who are engaging with the transition of ink-related from traditional form into a contemporary one. Their arts have broken through the rigid concept but absorb the essence of the ink-washing painting. With a deep cultural root, their art have developed a personal terminology, presenting a rich and fresh vision of contemporary art. The contemporary Chinese art scene is thus more diversified and refreshing.
