When Guyi surveyed what happened around him seriously, there is full of anxiety and discomposure in his heart. He asks himself, “Is it the inevitable ruth in the human progress?” “Blurred City” series revealed some social phenomenon in-depth after the artist has experienced different kinds of the life.
“The city likes a screwball labyrinth in the night. And people come to the illusion word unconsciously. Wherever you go, it’s hard for you to find a settled direction. Most of people may dissociate and lose oneself in the wispy world at last. The women and their inane eyes in the picture tell us it.
The women who get lost in the night don’t know where to go. Maybe the Gold makes them sensibility. So they have to find a way to read their sad silently.

Blurred and Memorable
On Liang Guyi’s “Blurred City”
When I first read Liang Guyi’s works, there are so many works in his different creative periods and I saw a long time. There is a feeling that can’t be described by language, somewhat blurred, somewhat memorable.
He painted a group of city girls. It is accurate to say that he painted a group of woman living in Shenzhen. In the past 10years, facing the rapid developed era and changing art trends, Liang Guyi insists his own way and do not pursuit the fashion blindly. He wants to arouse people’s thinking of life and existence. For such a dedicated artist, I think he must love and know to penetrate life.
1981, when the French writer Goncourt witnessed the relics of the ruined building in Paris, he said:” the inside will be death, life will be public. Facing those coming things I become stranger…”Goncourt’s feelings is a kind of confused response for the sudden drastic changes of the city. I think that having experienced Shenzhen from a small fishing village became to a metropolis, the artist may has the same confusion. But after confusing, he can keep his head and pay attention on the intense changes in the city and then made an independent thinking. All of this has shown his artistic enterprising spirit and perseverance spirit view.
The drastic changes in modern city led to a part of people do not fixed and used to accept. So this kind of people easy to wandering likes suspending in the world. As Liang Guyi said,” The city likes a screwball labyrinth in the night. And people come to the illusion word unconsciously. Wherever you go, it’s hard for you to find a settled direction. Most of people may dissociate and lose oneself in the wispy world at last…” Therefore, we found that there are so many confused and inane eyes. Although they makeup, smeared red lipstick and dressing with fashion white-collar suit, still can not cover up their emptiness, loneliness, decadence and connivance. They are still loitering in various places lonely. I think this is the reason why Liang Guyi named his works “Blurred City”. Here “blurred” means “confused and dissociate”. When one’s heart dissociate from the body, people will lose the direction. The artist sometimes overlooks these “l(fā)oitering people” and sometimes walks in the street and experiences the society.
“Blurred City” series’ objects are urban women. Through describing the living conditions of these women, it reflects a kind of social situation under the consumer culture and popular culture, and the part of people's living condition. A part of the series painted a group of female white-collar workers’ life. He described many aspects of their life through painting some simple commodity, like notebook, red wine, dainty breakfast, coffee, senior wallet, cigarettes, and powder box and so on. They choose notebook for fashion or convenience, so that network will become important part of their life. Today network is also become important part in our modern people’s life, and even has become a way of life. As for bar, carnival, party are another way of self-indulgence. Another part of his work has more impressionistic style. In these works, the backgrounds have some changes: some one is lines, and some one like the water wave; the suits changed to more sexy dresses; the hair style changed too; and the environment became from the real world to windy one. The uniform ones are the confused and inane eyes and not sexy lips smeared with the same red lipstick. The works convey the artist’s experience of society through the combination between the women and situation. It also gives us a vision imagination space.
