柯克?佩德森(Kirk Pedersen)是美國著名繪畫藝術(shù)家、攝影家。“城市印象”攝影繪畫作品展共在沈陽、廣州、深圳、上海、北京等五個城市相繼開展。此次在上海多倫現(xiàn)代美術(shù)館舉辦的展覽是本次巡回展覽的第四站,展覽時間2008年12月5日至21日。
本次展覽共展出柯克?佩德森個人繪畫和攝影作品83件,其中繪畫作品55件,攝影作品28件。主要通過色彩斑斕,極富視覺沖擊力的熱抽象繪畫語言手法展現(xiàn)了柯克?佩德森本人對世界多個城市的不同印象。柯克?佩德森通過作品所展現(xiàn)出的城市印象并不是那些現(xiàn)代化大都市的磅礴景象,而是通過城市中微妙的細(xì)節(jié)來展現(xiàn)出一個城市的特色,其中很多能夠代表城市形象的物品往往是我們生活中經(jīng)常能夠用到的平凡的東西。柯克也是想通過這樣的方式,讓人們能夠用心靈去體會一個城市的魅力,不要只相信眼睛看到的東西,從細(xì)微之處發(fā)現(xiàn)城市的特色,用心靈看到的城市才是真正的城市。
柯克?佩德森的作品向我們展示了來自心靈深處的壯烈城市景觀和現(xiàn)代文明特質(zhì)下的藝術(shù)思考。他的這些繪畫和攝影作品,讓我們通過視覺因素的有效傳達,體驗了一個富有創(chuàng)作激情的藝術(shù)家思想情懷和純真的藝術(shù)心境,認(rèn)知一種充盈著生命活力的藝術(shù)實踐力量。流連在交錯的都市街道上,Pedersen創(chuàng)作著。他運用多種視角來描繪一個特定的地點。經(jīng)常選取一些被大多數(shù)人忽視的風(fēng)景,可能是就在道路的拐處,可能位于大廈的角落,也可能是一堵被廢棄的殘塬,Pedersen尋找并記錄著那些看似永恒的生活中短暫的瞬間。這些來源于本能的藝術(shù)作品往往充滿好奇、變幻和浪漫的詩意。它們經(jīng)常捕捉到轉(zhuǎn)瞬即逝的時刻,有時充滿著奇異的美麗與寧靜,多數(shù)時候則勾畫出周遭行將消逝的存在,正被那些現(xiàn)代化的新的建筑所取代。尋覓并記錄著都市生活的現(xiàn)實,Pedersen從無限可能中甄別,對城市給出了藝術(shù)的詮釋。
在藝術(shù)語言的形象性上,他以鮮明的個性圖示隱喻被破壞、侵蝕的城市軀殼,通過對城市不同細(xì)節(jié)及生活中短暫瞬間的表現(xiàn),表達他對與城市文化的個人體驗和藝術(shù)判斷,揭示現(xiàn)實生活的殘酷歷史感和悲愴的社會性。在有意追求全部作品整體性同時,每件作品又具有著延續(xù)性和差異性,在寬宏的視覺映照下,給人以強大的感官刺激和內(nèi)心震撼感。
在畫面視覺表現(xiàn)上,柯克通過色彩斑斕,極富視覺沖擊力的熱抽象繪畫語言,描繪破舊的殘墻、碎片的邊緣,以此尋找并記錄都市生活的現(xiàn)實,表現(xiàn)時間的流逝和無常,畫面上看是隨意和無序的色塊和線條,以偶然性的視覺形態(tài)構(gòu)成了新的序列關(guān)系,與拼貼、并置的具象圖像相互銜接,形成了他鮮明的視覺表現(xiàn)形式,這種抽象與具象形態(tài)所引發(fā)的美感無形而明確,呈現(xiàn)出強烈的對比和視覺沖擊。使我們在多變的藝術(shù)格局中,直觀了當(dāng)代繪畫拓展和延續(xù)的可能性。
在對外界環(huán)境抽象細(xì)節(jié)的探索方面,Pedersen的作品與二十世紀(jì)中期美國攝影家,例如Aaron Siskind 和Harry Callahan以及中世紀(jì)歐洲畫家Antoni Tapies, Alberto Burri 和Lucia Fontana的關(guān)注對象發(fā)生了歷史性的共鳴。像這些攝影家一樣,Pedersen嘗試了一些被世人認(rèn)為是過于平淡的現(xiàn)實題材,然而就像他的前輩畫家一樣,他創(chuàng)作了一些表現(xiàn)被毀壞、侵蝕的城市風(fēng)貌的圖景,冷靜地強化了現(xiàn)實的殘酷,揭示了生活的悲愴就平靜地展現(xiàn)在這些平凡的、令人熟視無睹的事物的外表之下。
從殘破的邊緣記載著年代的斑駁的墻面,到聚在小餐館后門度過閑暇一刻的廚師,Pedersen將觀眾帶到了由凡俗到卓越的神奇之旅。先哲說,人不能兩次踏入同一條河流,體現(xiàn)了在現(xiàn)實的世界里,變化是永恒的。在追尋靈感和頓悟的過程中,Pedersen創(chuàng)作著,并將平淡無奇的生活變成了令人驚嘆的奇觀。圍墻的細(xì)節(jié),大廈的前壁以及其他的城市標(biāo)志,這些畫面不僅構(gòu)成了城市民居的一瞥,它們從平凡中創(chuàng)造了奇跡,同 時清晰地勾勒出了二十一世紀(jì)最初十年里亞洲瞬息萬變的面貌。

Kirk Pedersen is a famous artist in painting and photograph who comes from US. “Impression of urban” will be traveling presented in Shenyang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing. And this time exhibition in Shanghai is from December 5th to 21st, 2008, as the 4th station.
On the exhibition, there are 83 works on show, including 55 painting works and 28 photographs. We can find the splendid urban landscape and modern civilization which comes from deep spirit through Kirk Pedersen’s art works. With an effective transmitting of vision of his paintings and photographs, we also can feel the passion of the artist.
He always focuses on a fixed location, a busy and crisscross street in urban, a turning in street or a corner in a mansion, which are always ignored by other people, and creates from different perspectives. Pedersen seeks and records the transitory moment which seems eternal. His works, which are full of curiosity, changes and romantic poetic, presents beauty and quiet sometimes, and most time shows something will disappear in the following time instead by a modern building.
In the works, the destroyed and erosive urban is performed through a metaphor, what showed a cruel reality and society. While the artist intended to display all the works as a whole, they are different from each other and also relative. It brought us sensory stimulation and shock inside.
Kirk used abstract painting ways which are colorful and full of visual impact to picture a destroyed wall in order to search and record the reality of a urban life. Color and line are random and out-of-order, which is like the time lapse. The beauty comes from a combination with something abstract and concrete, which presents an intense comparison.
The subject of environment details in his works are similar to these photographers in the middle of 20th century in the US like Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan ,as well as European painters in medieval such as Antoni Tapies, Alberto Burri and Lucia Fontana. They all managed to express realities while others ignored them.
There is a saying that you cannot step twice into the same river, and it means Changes is eternal in the reality. Pedersen engages in creating when he searching inspiration and he change the nothing remarkable life into a exclamatory scene. Conditions changed quickly in the first decade in the 21st century and these images are pictured in Pedersen’s works. It is a miracle by him.
