周吉榮作品展
受人尊敬的著名藝術(shù)家周吉榮即將于今年10月在紅門畫廊進行他的新作個展——綺城，展覽將會展出他近期創(chuàng)作的最新作品系列。
這一系列作品的主題是北京的黃昏。城市的輪廓和景象在畫布上幻化成了縹緲、柔和又略帶虛幻的形象，這些飄忽不定的輪廓和形體近乎于抽象。
在他的這些作品中，古典精神與新的符號化視覺語言和新的創(chuàng)作手法相得益彰。
在周吉榮的眼中，中國的快速城市化所帶來的結(jié)果之一就是城市的量產(chǎn)，北京也是其中之一。這些城市正在逐漸失去他們各自的特點和個性——無論是標(biāo)志性的城市特征還是每一個城市所獨有的文化。而這些，正是中國城市化的一大特點。
與世界接軌的城市化所帶來的不僅有先進的事物，同時還有環(huán)境和人類健康問題。
周吉榮說：“實際上我已經(jīng)把我自己放到了一個‘無特點’、‘無我’、‘無歸屬感’的夢想空間。”
周吉榮作品展展將于10月18日至11月16日在紅門畫廊東便門角樓舉行。

Zhou Jirong – Solo Exhibition
BEIJING, October, 2008 – Well-known and highly-respected artist Zhou Jirong will present his latest body of work, titled Fantastic City, in a solo show at Red Gate Gallery in October this year.
The recurring theme of the work is Beijing at sunset. Urban landscapes emerge on canvas as hazy, indistinct blurred forms - forms that are so amorphous that they verge on the abstract.
The spirit of tradition is juxtaposed with new iconography and new technology.
Zhou Jirong sees one result of the rapid urbanisation of China as producing cities, including Beijing, which are losing identity – both the individual city’s identity as well as any sense of association with the broader cultural identity – that of being a part of China!
Added to the international ‘sameness’ of form are the associated environmental problems of air pollution and human health.
In the words of Zhou Jirong: ‘It seems I have placed myself in a dream-world with no special features, no self, no sense of belonging … in a fictitious space …’.
The exhibition will be shown in the Red Gate Gallery l Dongbianmen Watchtower from Oct 18 – Nov 16 2008.
